Learning the Traditions: Salsiccia

First in a series of workshops designed to allow for our older members to pass on details of some of the fine traditions that make Italian heritage so rich.  This workshop will focus on making sausage.

Gennaro Pellagrino will be showing us the tricks and the "how to" of making traditional Italian sausage from scratch. Let's keep the tradition going; we hope to see the room full with our younger members learning sausage-making from meat selection, to spicing to loading the intestine.

We will take a break for dinner: pasta, salad, sausage and wine.  While wine is supplied, feel free to bring home made wine (which will be the topic of another Learning the Traditions workshop).

All sausage making food, spices and equipment will be supplied.  Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get involved.  At the end of the evening we will have made sufficient sausage so that everyone will take home at least four links of our production.

After the sausage workshop is complete, the learning continues with Italian card games.  If you have wanted to learn how to play Briscola (video) or Scopa, this is your chance.

This is a members-only event.  Members may bring a guest only if they qualify as a SOI member and are interested in joining.  Both members and guests are subject to the $20 per person charge.
